Clara Mae Buckmaster, 80, of Chesapeake Beach passed away peacefully July 30, 2017 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born February 24, 1937 in North Beach to James Wallace and Sadie Ellen Stallings. Clara Mae attended Calvert High School and was employed as a receptionist with the Calvert County Health Department. She married James Edward Buckmaster on June 3, 1955. He passed away suddenly in 1970, leaving Clara Mae to raise their six children, which was her greatest accomplishment in life. She was a prominent figure in Calvert County and was a member of Calvert County Little League, Democratic Club, Cardiac Society, Parks and Rec, North Beach Town Council, the Bayside History Museum and North Beach Union Church. Our sincerest sympathy to all the family and many friends of Clara Mae. She was an amazing lady involved in many organizations. May she be blessed for all her kindness to others. One of our fondest memories is watching her be an auctioneer at some of our LASMVFA meetings. She really like having fun and she will be missed. May she rest in peace.

You could write a book about Clara Mae's dedication to her family and to the Beaches communities. She was there for anyone and everyone. I had the luck of seeing Tinker Harmon July of this year and took his picture for Clara Mae. She just so appreciated seeing one of her kids. Whether it was the Women's Democratic Club that she and Barbara Stinnett keep going for more than twenty years; or the American Legion; or the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department; or the Bayside History Museum; or the Town Councils in two towns; her comments were always appreciated and on-point. She will be missed as a mother, aunt, friend and community advocate. I was lucky to have had such a wonderful friend in my life. Thanks Clara Mae for always being there for anyone who needed you. Much love.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Clara Mae. She was an amazing woman and gave me much inspiration. As a LAMSFA PP as I came up the chairs she was one who was always there for me to talk to for words of wisdom and advice. I will never forget her big smile and hugs she always had for everyone, including me. Will truly miss her.

Having been with my dear friend through the toughest times of her own life I did and will cry in private. Clare Mae was my mentor. I shall miss her terribly but life passes by so quickly. I loved our laughs and will always remember those smoothies in the air all over me and Clare Mae given direction in her home -- strip, wash your hair out and then put your clothes in the washer. I did that exactly. She really missed the smoothie with the whipped cream. We laughed for hours that afternoon. Such a sense of humor she had. Peace be unto all the six children, grandchildren and great grands. I am so glad she made the wedding in early July. As if she had it planned out when to pass into God's loving hands. Love and hugs to all -- Calvert County, Chesapeake Beach and the State of Maryland will miss Clare Mae Buckmaster!! Peace be unto all!!! whom knew Clare Mae -- she enriched our lives tremendously.
