George Russell Babcock, age 79, of Prince Frederick, MD died July 3, 2010 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. He was born August 3, 1930 in Homer NY to George W. and Florence Grace (Russell) Babcock. George was educated in Homer schools and entered the United States Marines in October 1951 and was discharged in October 1953 as a Sergeant. George retired from NOAA, Weather Bureau in November 1985 and from the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission in September 1993. George was a member of First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro, the Masonic Lodge #352 of Homer, NY, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons in Virginia and Old Dominion #1 Knight Templar of Alexandria, VA. George enjoyed walking and talking with his neighbors, setting on the porch with his friends George and Ruth Everhart, reading and working word search. He was preceded in death by his parents George W. and Grace Russell Babcock, a sister Jane Babcock Wright and brothers John Alfred and Harold F. Babcock. Surviving are his wife of 38 years Diane Hill Babcock, nieces Linda Babcock Sorber and her husband Charles of Austin, TX and Anita Roseborrough and her husband Cory of Waxahachie, TX nephews Brian Wright and his wife Cathy of Reno, NV and Ray Wright of Albuquerque, NM and special travel buddies George and Lucille Housel of Dunkirk, MD
