| Barsha Fowler Carter, 69, of Lusby, MD passed away on August 4, 2010 in Prince Frederick, MD. She was born on May 31, 1941 in New Mexico to the late Basil Jay Fowler and Frances Fay Holt Fowler. Barsha graduated from Dalhart, TX in 1959 and went on to graduate from West Texas State in 1963 with a BA degree and a ‘lifetime’ certification in teaching with a double major, Speech Pathology / Audiology and English. She married Joe Carter on March 27, 1965 in St. James Episcopal Church, Dalhart, TX and he preceded her in death in 1994. Barsha and Joe lived in Plainview, TX, Oakland, CA, Idaho Falls, ID, before they settled in Calvert Co., MD. She worked briefly as a school teacher in the Calvert Co. school system before becoming a Real Estate Agent. Barsha and Joe bought membership into Schwartz Brothers Distributors and opened the only video store within a 40 mile radius in Solomons, MD. Barsha ran the video store until her husband’s death in 1994 when she let the store go. Barsha went to work in 1997 for the State of Maryland’s Department of Social Service as Calvert County’s Employment Specialist / Job Developer. She belonged to the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Alpha Psi Omega Honorary Fraternity. Barsha is survived by her children, Bricca Carter of Lynnwood, WA and Macsen A.
