Mary Elizabeth "MB" Harry, 56, of Cove Point died on December 5 at
her home after a courageous year with the diagnosis of pancreatic
cancer. She was born to Charles Rudolph and Mary Evelyn Bolton
Geilfuss on May 27, 1954 in Baltimore, MD and married Donald Harry on
November 17, 1984 in Baltimore and moved to Cove Point in 1992.
She graduated from Mercy High School in Baltimore and attended
Frostburg State. She graduated from the Maryland Institute College
of Art following her passion for art and becoming a professional artist
creating naturalistic paintings, with at times whimsical touches. She
was classical trained, but believed art should not be taken so serious.
She was a member of the CalvArt Gallery and the Escape Art group
and volunteered at Ann Marie Gardens & Sculpture Park. Her work
has been shown at galleries in Baltimore, MD; Florida and around Calvert County. She painted custom murals through her business Lone Palm Murals,
painting in homes around Maryland and created a mural for Mt.
Harmony Elementary School in Owings, MD. She volunteered her artistic
talents to charitable causes and painted murals for sick children
through Make-A-Wish Foundation. Recently her illustrations were published in the children's book "Bay Babies," which she dedicated to her two granddaughters. She had a heart for animaIs, adopting rescued dogs and cats and few times took in stray cats. She traveled with her husband to the Hawaiian and Caribbean Islands and the Florida Keys several times, but her favorite place was at their beach house at Cove Point, entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed being at the beach whether walking, collecting “treasures” or just relaxing. Her kind and loving spirit will be sadly will be sadly missed by those who were fortunate to have known her.
She is survived by her husband Don Harry, daughter Shannon Fox and
granddaughters Kayla and Megan all of Manhasset, NY, sisters Judy Dodson and her husband Jim of Baltimore, MD; Jean Brown and Kathy Strine both of Sparks, MD; brothers John Geilfuss and his wife Angie of Baltimore, MD and Tom Geilfuss and his wife Jane of Dover, DE; nieces Ginny, Katie, Susie and Jenny and nephews Dave, Chris, Greg, John and Tom.
