John Ernest Curtin, age 66, of Wilmington, NC and Little River, SC died Friday, January 14, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. John was born January 6, 1945 in Cheverly, MD to the late Marie E. Wieland Curtin and James R. Curtin, Sr. The family moved from Berwyn Heights to Calvert County in the mid 1950’s. John was a 1963 graduate of Calvert High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy serving upon the USS Winston during the Vietnam Conflict. After his discharge in 1969, John began his career with WSSC retiring in 1997. John moved to Little River, SC in 1999 and relocated to Wilmington, NC in 2009.
Surviving are his wife Donna Vereen-Curtin of Wilmington, NC; a daughter Amy Roeper and her husband Eric of Middletown, MD; a son Jason Ernest Curtin of Salisbury, MD and his former wife Jennifer of Dunkirk, MD; three grandchildren Emma Curtin, Elijah Roeper and Olivia Curtin; three brothers James Curtin of Sunset Beach, NC, Larry and Thomas Curtin of Dunkirk, MD; a sister Marlene Vermillion and her husband John of Dunkirk, MD; his former wife Darlene Curtin of Venice, FL; two aunts Margaret Murphy and Erna Wieland and many nieces and nephews.
