| Fukue “Suzie” Beaty, 79, died January 9, 2011, at Anne Arundel Medical Center due to sepsis and pneumonia. Suzie was born in 1931 in Hamura Prefecture in Tokyo, Japan. She was the eldest child of Bunsaku Suzuki and Fujiyo Gata. She attended Nishitama Elementary School and Nishitama Higher Elementary School. She also studied to be a kimono maker. Suzie met her husband, Lt. Colonel Randall Beaty while working as a headwaitress at Yokota Air Base Officers Club in 1960. They were married in November 1962 in Japan and came to the United States in March 1964. The family moved to Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 1972 and have lived in the same house in Marlton since that time. Suzie was a homemaker who also ran several small businesses out of her home including seamstress services, catering and cake decorating. She was active in the Marlton Flower and Garden Club and often volunteered at the local schools teaching origami. Suzie was always busy doing arts and crafts; macramé, decopouge, painting, ceramics, knitting, quilting, sewing and a variety of Japanese crafts. Recently she was a member of a local quilting group that also worked on a wide range of crafts. She also loved cooking and was well known for her “egg rolls.” Suzie watched her granddaughters until 3 years ago when she devoted her time to being a dutiful nurse to her husband. Suzie is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Randall Beaty who still resides at the family residence in Upper Marlboro. She is also survived by her daughter, Shari Collinson and son-in-law Joseph Collinson IV of Tracys Landing, Maryland. She has two grand-daughters, Sydney Suzuki Collinson, who is named after her, and Leola Collinson. She is also survived by family in Japan and California. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
