Petrina Julia May, 96, of Solomon’s, MD passed away on May 13, 2011 at her home. She was born June 5, 1914, in Washington, DC to the late Pasquale and Catherine Pett Mistretta. Petrina spent many years working in Washington, DC for the National Geographic Society, and also for the Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, MD. She enjoyed reading, was an outstanding cook, and loved to spend her time with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Eugene Francis May, and her brother Salvatore Mistretta. She is survived by two nieces and a nephew; and also nieces and nephews from her husband’s side; and many great & great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and have a memorial service on Sunday June 5, 2011, at 2 PM at the Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD.
