Clare Dawe Guerny

Clare Dawe Guerny, 92, a long time resident of Dares Beach, passed away peacefully in her bed with devoted friends by her side on June 1, 2011, at Calvert Memorial Hospital. Clare had lived at Asbury-Solomon’s Assisted Living since spring of 2010. She was born on March 27, 1919 in Edgerton, Wisconsin to the late Emily and Frank Dawe. Clare was highly educated with two Bachelor of Arts degrees and a Masters degree. She was a librarian and published author, and her life was centered on books and literature. Interested in national and world affairs her entire life, she could intelligently converse on a variety of subjects. Clare possessed a dry and keen sense of humor which was much enjoyed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Helgestad and brother, Roy Dawe, both of Wisconsin, several nieces and a nephew. A graveside service will be held in Edgerton Wisconsin at a later date. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Friends of Calvert Library, C/O Pat Hoffman, 850 Costley Way, Prince Frederick, MD 20678
