“Connie”
Emma Corinne Baker Smith, “Connie”, 89, of St. Leonard, MD, passed away on August 26, 2011 at her home. She was born on April 21, 1922 in Ohio. Connie graduated from Ohio State University and lived in New Orleans after her graduation. She was a Registered Dietician for many years and worked at the Mayo Clinic. Connie owned and operated the Matoaka Beach Cabins with her husband for 52 years. She was an avid fossil hunter. She was a fantastic mother who just loved people. She touched and changed the lives of many people.
Connie is survived by her husband Lawrence Edwin Smith of St. Leonard MD, mother of; Becky Jane Smith Barney of Lusby MD, Gary Edwin Smith of Berryville, VA, Bonnie Belle Gateau of California MD and Mark A. Smith of New York, NY.
Grandmother of Belinda Barney of Lusby MD, Brandon Barney of Lusby MD, Christopher Gateau of Arlington VA and Shawn Gateau of California MD. She is also survived by a sister, Ethel Hughes of Ohio.
The family will receive friends at the Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic MD on Monday August 29, 2011 from 1-2 P.M. where services will be held at 2 P.M. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leonard volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
