Gerry W. Hance, 53, of St. Leonard, MD passed away on April 17, 2010 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. He was born October 8, 1956 in Prince Frederick, MD to the late George W. and Ellen Bowen Hance. Gerry was a long time resident of Long Beach, and a father to the children who lived in the neighborhood, having had a basketball net, volleyball net and horseshoe pit installed for the community. His “boys” were his pride and joy; he enjoyed camping, and riding his motorcycle. He was a Master electrician and member of the Electrician Union Local # 26.
Beloved father of Matthew W. and Samuel K. Hance, both of St. Leonard, MD. Brother of Sandra Jean McRae of Chesapeake Beach, MD, George W. “Sam” Hance of Huntingtown, MD, Robin Sue Hance of Baltimore, MD, Esther Marie Hernandez of Waynesboro, GA, Joseph Finley Hance of Port Republic, MD and Jonathan David “JD” Hance of Port Republic, MD. Gerry is also survived by other family members, Penny, Tiffany and Timmy Moore, close family friends Chris Gilbert and Mike Williams, and numerous other close friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 23, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Church by the Chesapeake, 3255 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD where services will follow at 8 PM. Interment is private. Pallbearers will be JD Hance, Sam Hance, Joey Hance, Ron Hernandez, Mike Williams, Chris Gilbert, Guy St. John, and Keith Bowen.
